About Doctor Steve
Passionate About Helping People
I have had a very varied career over the years. This has ranged from programming computers to teaching science to school children. I have also taught English as a foreign language abroad.
The first thing that I studied after school was pharmacology. I found it very interesting but it was so abstract and removed from people. I then followed through with an interest I had as a teenager which was programming computers (the ZX Spectrum for anyone old enough to remember). Again it was very interesting but this was even further removed from people!
My next move was to embark upon a career in teaching and very much enjoyed the people contact that I had here. I did miss the medical science though. I was also itching to stretch my mind and study again myself. That’s when I decided to pursue the path of becoming a doctor, which was about 16 years ago.
Studying medicine at a later age in life is not easy but I had the advantage of maturity on my side. I really think that this maturity
had helped to shape the doctor that I am now. I feel that I can express the caring nature of my personality and have more wisdom to understand people. After all how can you treat someone properly if you don’t understand their wants and needs and see things from their perspective.
Being a doctor is about treating and caring for people but its also very much about explaining things as well. Explaining how treatment works, why someone is unwell, how to spot if you are becoming ill and how to know if you are getting better. That’s where I believe my teaching experience comes in and why I want to help people understand as much as possible about their health so that they can live happier and healthier lives.
